Tham Gia Family EventMan and young boy doing circus activity

Our first Tham Gia Family Event for this year was held on Saturday 12 February and proved to be a great day enjoyed by everyone!

With over 100 people attending the event, including the Mayor of Brimbank Council and other delegates. Families had the opportunity to try riding a bike, learn about road safety and have a go at circus skills. It was wonderful to see so many Father’s in attendance and Mum’s having a go at some of the activities like bike riding. There were lots of smiles and joy all around on the faces of both parents and children despite the hot weather.

The event received lots of positive feedback and pleasingly all who completed the post event survey said the would be likely to visit the venue or participate again in the activity.  The purpose of our Tham Gia School Holiday Program (Western) is to support opportunities for young people with various types of disabilities to experience locally based activities and to explore and become more involved in the communities in which they live.

A big thank you to staff - Thanh, Nat, Emily, Nabila, Julia and Nghi who put in a lot of work into organising this event and to Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre, Brimbank Council and Curbside Carnies!

Living with a disability can be difficult. We support people aged 0-30 and their families in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula to build friendships and connect with their community.
