Volunteering Opportunities
We have real children and families with real needs seeking a volunteer for friendship and family support. The following profiles provide information on just some of them. You don’t have to be a super hero to get involved, you just need to have an interest in people.

Two volunteers, preferably with disability experience are needed to work with the twins, their family and the program coordinator to develop a trusting connection, support communication and channel high energy levels so that the boys can enjoy participating in outdoor community activities. The boy's mother is very willing to remain involved throughout and work alongside the volunteers so the ration would be 3 to 2. |

It would be great if a volunteer could show clear boundaries and teach Laura about stranger danger. Her family do not have any other respite options.

Artie’s family would love a volunteer who could spend time with Artie doing activities he enjoys and encourage him to extend his communication.

Josh and Yanni both have mild Cerebral Palsy and both have hearing impairment. Josh's hearing impairment is more severe than Yanni's. Josh and Yanni have moved to Craigieburn from the Western suburbs to have a purpose built home. They live with their Mum and eight year old brother. The children’s father died when all three boys were under three years of age. The family are from Eritrea.
The boys require full assistance and support and are a large build, manual handling training can be provided to the volunteer, the family does have many aids and equipment to support the boys.

The family would appreciate a volunteer to assist the family with attending appointments or give the Mum a regular break. The family are originally from China, Mum speaks and understands Cantonese/Mandarin well, but only a small amount of English; both boys have a good understanding of English.

Jonathan is a large strong boy and it would be great to have a couple or a male volunteer to go out on regular activities with him.
