Become a volunteer

To get started simply contact us. The Regional Coordinator in your area will then call you to explain the process in detail.

EFA’s comprehensive assessment process helps us to successfully match a volunteer’s interests, skills, expectations and availability with the interests, needs, expectations and lifestyle of a child and family. This provides the best opportunity for a long-lasting friendship to develop.

Once the assessment process is complete, successful volunteers will be appropriately trained and oriented and introduced to their potential match for a three-month “getting to know you” trial period.

EFA is required to assess all potential volunteers before they can be introduced to families. The assessment includes a Police Check and Working with Children check (paid for by EFA), medical and reference checks, a one-day training and information session and some home interviews.

All information collected is purely for the purpose of assessing suitability and matching potential volunteers with children and is subject to EFA’s Privacy Policy.
