Victorian Government Disability Sites

Disability Online      Disability Online provides comprehensive, universally accessible information including a Victorian service directory, news and events directories, disability and health articles and more.

Disability Services  Victorian Department of Human Services. Provides information about the supports and services funded by DHS for people in Victoria with intellectual, physical, sensory and dual disabilities, neurological impairments and acquired brain injury.

Disability Services Commissioner    The Commissioner has been created to work with people with a disability and disability service providers to resolve complaints. Based on the Disability Act 2006, the Commissioner is independent of government, the Department of Human Services and disability service providers and provides a free confidential and supportive complaints resolution process.

Disability Advisory Council of Victoria    The Disability Advisory Council provides advice to the Victorian Minister for Community Services on issues concerning people with disabilities in order to assist the Victorian Government achieve its stated policy objectives.

Association for Children with a Disability     An information, support and advocacy organisation for children with a disability and their families, in Victoria, Australia.

Autism Victoria     Autism Victoria is the first place to call for information and advice for anyone interested in finding out more about Autism Spectrum Disorders, especially in Victoria, Australia.

Down Syndrome Association of Victoria    Down Syndrome Victoria is a not-for-profit, membership-based association seeking to represent the needs and views of Victorians with Down syndrome and their families.They coordinate a network of support groups, provide personal support, educational support, mentoring connections, and have lots of information resources. 

Cerebral Palsy Australia     CP Australia - works towards creating a national focus on cerebral palsy - to promote the interests, rights, roles and wellbeing of people with cerebral palsy and similar disorders.  Information and links to services are available.

Carers Victoria     Carers Victoria is the statewide voice for family carers, representing and providing support to carers in the community.


Deaf Services Australia     Provides information, advocacy, support services and educational resources that respond to the needs of hearing impaired children and their families.


Other Resources

Companion Card   The Victorian Government's Companion Card is issued to eligible people with a significant permanent disability, who can demonstrate that they are unable to access most community activities and venues without attendant care support. Participating organisations will issue the cardholder with a second ticket for their companion at no charge.

Better Health Channel      Health and medical information for consumers, quality assured by the Victorian government (Australia).  They have useful fact sheets about a wide range of health and disability topics.

Royal Children’s Hospital Safety Centre    The Safety Centre's mission has been to reduce injury mortality and morbidity by supporting communities to improve health, safety and wellbeing.  They have a wide range of fact sheets and brochures including safety information about the home, travel, dogs, water, toys and allergies.

Health Translations Directory    This directory links to online multilingual health resources from government departments, peak health bodies, hospitals, community health centres and welfare agencies.

Centrelink    Centrelink is an Australian Government Statutory Agency, providing financial support and assistance to those in need.
