We are developing new models including our Live Your Community Program (LYCP) that seeks to broaden social networks and promote local community participation and inclusion of children with disabilities and their families with the support of a volunteer.  The program includes one on one matches with a volunteer as well as Together Groups – where 2 to 4 children or young people, with the support of a volunteer, meet in a supported small group environment enabling the development of new friendships and strengthen social skills through peer interaction and community participation.

We are seeking an energetic, committed and creative volunteer and program coordinator to help develop and implement these models in our North and West Regional program based in Glenroy.  This flexible position is available for 15 to 20 hours a week until June 2011; with a possibility of extension. 

You will train, match and support volunteers working with children with a disability and their family, undertake family assessment and support, research community social and recreational opportunities for children and support community groups to effectively include specific children with disabilities.  You will work alongside other regional staff to provide innovative, quality services that connect people to their community.
